District Earns Excellent State Rating

Spartanburg County School District Six is celebrating a strong tradition of excellence. We are very grateful for those who have played a role in helping us achieve so many great accomplishments. Recent report card ratings from the State Department of Education confirm what we have known all along, District Six is an “excellent” school district with an “excellent” support team. For the third year in a row, Spartanburg School District Six earned an “excellent” absolute rating. “Excellent” is the highest rating any district can receive. According to the state an excellent rating means that the district’s performance level substantially exceeds the standards for progress. District Six Superintendent Dr. Darryl Owings says, “While we do not solely rely on report card ratings to validate the hard work and dedication of our District Six family, it does affirm our belief that when you put students first and have an entire school community striving for continuous improvement and excellence, all students are challenged and inspired.” Report cards use a five-tier ratings scale that labels school districts as "excellent," "good," "average," "below average" or "at risk." District Six was also rated "Good" in our growth rating. Our on-time graduation rate was 85.5 percent...5 percent higher than other comparative school districts in SC. That rate is even higher for student with us from at least 9-12 grade. Congratulations to the students, faculty, staff, administrators, school board and our local community who work so hard each day. We will continue to put children first and ensure that our students are college, career and citizenship ready!
