West View Nominated for National Award

West View Elementary School has been nominated for the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. WVES is the ONLY school nominated in Spartanburg county and one of only five schools in the state. This nomination is based on the schools high levels of achievement! Help us congratulate the hard working students and our dedicated parents, faculty, staff, and administration! Five schools in the state have been nominated by the State Department of Education. State superintendent Dr. M. Zais says, “I am excited to nominate five of our highest performing schools for this prestigious award.  “Students, teachers, and parents of these extraordinary public schools should be proud of this achievement and what it means for their communities.  Let’s congratulate them and also recognize the efforts of the local school boards and school district leadership for this national accomplishment."

 

The U.S. Department of Education runs the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, honoring public and private K-12 schools that achieve at high levels or make significant progress in closing achievement gaps.  South Carolina may nominate up to five schools annually per federal guidelines.
