District Teacher of the Year

Spartanburg County School District Six is proud to announce that Ms. Cortney Dial has been named “District Six Teacher of the Year.” Entering into her 18th year of teaching Dial was chosen among a select group of educators in the district. This new title was announced during the District Six Awards and Recognitions program on August 14th. In reference to this new chapter in her life, Dial says, "I was pleasantly surprised by this incredible honor. I am truly humbled and look forward to representing Spartanburg School District Six." When asked what she loves most about her teaching career Dial says, "I love watching my students grow academically, socially, and musically. As an orchestra teacher, I am especially blessed in having the opportunity to teach my students from their beginning stages to the end of their middle school tenure. This allows me to see their potential in action". Dial received her Bachelor of Music degree from Furman University and her Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in Music. She says, “I chose to teach in District Six because of its reputation for having a strong fine arts program. God has granted me the awesome gift of teaching and I consider it an honor to share this with others.” Dial says that her parents are undoubtedly her biggest fans. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, cooking, gardening and spoiling her dog!
