FES Student Wins Diplom-A-Rama Game-Show

He may not know which college he plans to attend, but Fairforest Elementary School student Cayden Scruggs has already won a college scholarship. The third-grade student, along with eight other FES 3rd, 4th and 5th graders were chosen to participate in a pilot gameshow, Diplomarama, hosted by the Michelin Challenge Education Program Saturday, October 15th. First place winner Cayden Scruggs won a $5,000 scholarship. Students had help answering challenging academic questions from 
Superintendent Dr. Darryl Owings, David Cordeau, president and CEO of Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce and Anna Padaetz, a Michelin industrial engineer.Congratulations to all nine students who participated in the game. Students were chosen based on their academic excellence. Second and third place winners received savings bonds from Michelin. In addition to the individual scholarship awards, Michelin gave Fairforest Elementary two Promethean smart boards and new laptop computers for the school's two science labs. New York City-based Silent Crow Productions will use the taping of Diplom-A-Rama to pitch to networks for a game show series.
