WHES Principal Honored in DC

Woodland Heights Principal Dr. Cynthia Pridgen now holds the official title of National Distinguished Principal. Dr. Pridgen was recently honored in Washington, DC and was the only principal in South Carolina this year to receive this prestigious award. The National Distinguished Principal program is sponsored by the National Association of Elementary School Principals and honors principals clearly committed to excellence. Under the direction of Dr. Pridgen, Woodland Heights has received many national, state and regional awards including Carolina First Palmetto’s Finest Recipient (only 1 of 2 schools selected in SC), National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, Red Carpet Service, and SC Distinguished Title I School (top out of 514 SC schools) for Closing the Achievement Gap. Woodland Heights Elementary School has been a SC Arts in Basic Curriculum school (1 in 58 nationwide) for the past six years. This means the school incorporates the arts into as many facets of education as possible.
