Fine Arts Program

Fine Arts Program

The Fine Arts Program in School District Six serves the entire school community. Starting in elementary school, students have the opportunity to participate in art and music classes. Band, chorus, orchestra, drama and dance classes are offered in the secondary school setting. The program adheres to the South Carolina Visual and Performing Arts Standards. All of the Fine Arts Programs are taught by certified Arts Educators. Classes are tailored to meet the exceptional needs of children. Gifted and talented classes are offered starting in elementary school. College bound arts students can qualify for Advanced Placement in Visual Arts and in Music Theory at Dorman. District Six provides arts enrichment through the Artist-in-Residence Program and the Summer Arts Institute. The Artist-in-Residence Program provides schools with the opportunity to house professional artists and musicians who share their areas of expertise with students. Students are exposed to in-depth study of the artists’ craft. Each year, gifted and talented students participate in the Visions Summer Arts Institute. Students thematically explore the dance, drama, music and art of various cultures. The theme is interwoven in all of the classes, presentations, events and performances held at the Institute.
